A Brief Introduction to MinDcard

This presentation provides a brief introduction to our iOS app, MinDcard.

MinDcard a companion app that works with FreeMind, Freeplane and other compatible mind-mapping applications to turn mind maps into study cards. MinDcard identifies annotated nodes in a mind map and presents them as flash cards for study using the Leitner Learning System.

Node are marked as a study card by annotating it with an icon or attribute. The node’s text will be displayed on the front of the study card and the node’s Note will be displayed on the back.

MinDcard can import mind maps iTunes File Sharing or from Dropbox.

The annotation icon can by customized using the app Settings.

MinDcard looks for annotated nodes and sorts them into 4 decks; All Cards, and Decks 1-3.

Initially, all of the nodes will be in Deck 1. As nodes are answered correctly, they are moved up to the next Deck.

During a study session the cards in the deck as listed along the left. When a card is selected, the node’s text is displayed on the front side of the card. Tap the card to flip it over and reveal the node’s note on the back.

Cards can be marked as correctly (or incorrectly) answered using the CHECK and X buttons.

Cards can be advanced forward or backwards using transport controls, swiping or by directly selecting a card from the list.

When done studying, return to the Decks. Cards that we marked as correct have been moved up to Deck 2.

The cards can be reshuffled back to their starting position by pressing the Reset button.
